Amy Morrissey and New Employees
We recently welcomed a new attorney, Amy Morrissey, and several new staff members to our firm.
Amy Morrissey is an attorney with the Mitzel Law Group PLC. She concentrates her practice in estate planning, probate and trust administration, and matters related to taxation of estates. Amy serves her clients through planning and advice related to life’s events, such as marriage, birth/adoption of children and grandchildren, incapacity, business succession, property ownership, retirement, long-term care, and of course, death and taxes. She has also served as a mediator in trust and estate disputes. Amy enjoys helping her clients find peace of mind through successful planning.
Amy is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and a past Chair of the Probate and Estate Planning Section of the State Bar of Michigan, of which she continues as a member. She has also chaired the Washtenaw County Bar Association Estate Planning, Probate, and Trust Law Section and the Washtenaw Estate Planning Council, and served on the Advisory Board for the Institute for Continuing Legal Education (ICLE). Amy has been involved in legislative drafting efforts in Michigan and has worked on committees to improve the practice of law for her fellow attorneys and to improve client outcomes. Her legal work continues to be recognized among her peers and leading legal publications, including being named a Super Lawyer in Michigan since 2009.
A frequent lecturer and author for ICLE, Amy has spoken on estate planning and administration topics, including estate planning for retirement benefits, an area of law in which there have been several recent changes.
Amy is active in her community, particularly her faith community at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Ann Arbor, serving as a Sacristan and volunteering in efforts to serve homebound members of the community. She has served on the Advisory Board for the Housing Bureau for Seniors and the Charitable Giving Committee for the Washtenaw Community College Foundation.

Terri Crane is a paralegal with the Mitzel Law Group PLC. She is an integral part of the estate planning team, as she was with her prior firm which she joined when she returned to Michigan in 2017. Terri has developed and refined her skills serving as paralegal to several private practitioners, both in Michigan and across the country.
Terri is often your first contact with the office. She facilitates the estate planning process for clients from information-gathering to completion. Terri assists attorneys with drafting estate planning documents, preparing documents for execution, and ensuring that the planning is finalized to client satisfaction. She performs countless other tasks to make the process smooth.

Debbie Crocker is a paralegal with the Mitzel Law Group PLC. She currently serves the firm on a part-time basis after performing many years of full-time paralegal work in private practice and for the Washtenaw County Trial Court. Debbie earned her paralegal degree in 1991. She worked extensively in the area of trusts and estates, in litigation including as a trial assistant, and as a judicial coordinator for the Court.
In her role as paralegal with the firm, Debbie assists clients with tasks in the probate and trust administration process, the titling and designation of assets in the estate planning process, and in navigating both processes. She assists attorneys with the preparation of estate planning instruments, real estate documents, and tax forms. Debbie’s dedication and attention to detail are invaluable to the firm’s clients and attorneys.

Kellie A. Salvato is a paralegal at Mitzel Law Group PLC, bringing over 25 years of experience in the legal field. She joined the firm in late 2024 following the passing of her former employer, attorney Thomas E. Dew, and has since played a key role in transitioning his clients to Mitzel Law Group.
Kellie began her legal career in 1998 after earning her second degree in legal assisting. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in art history from the University of Toledo, awarded in 1993. Throughout her career, Kellie has focused primarily on probate and estate planning, where her attention to detail and compassionate approach have made her a trusted resource for clients navigating complex legal matters.
Outside of work, Kellie enjoys spending time with her husband, their two children, and their beloved English Shepherd. She is often found walking her dog through the neighborhood, where she is an active member of both her local community and parish. Kellie has a deep appreciation for art, a lifelong love of animals, and a strong commitment to her family—values that enrich both her personal and professional life.

Rose Deemer is the receptionist and Client Relations Specialist at the Mitzel Law Group. She assists with greeting and onboarding clients, scheduling and communications between clients and attorneys, and facilitating the day-to-day operations of the office.
Prior to joining the Mitzel Law Group, Rose has lived in five different states and two countries, and has worked primarily in education and youth ministry. In her free time, Rose enjoys hiking, running, reading, and traveling, but most importantly, spending time with her friends, family, and church community.
